Grant Funding and Feed-in Tariffs

Feed-in Tariffs

From April 2010 the UK introduced a European style Feed-In Tariff (FIT). This enables micro-generators to be paid a premium amount for the energy a system generates, irrespective if used within the building or exported to the grid. The tariffs for photovoltaic systems are shown below:

-     Systems under 4kWp, retrofit installations - 41.3p/kWh

-     Systems under 4kWp, new build projects - 36.1p/kWh

-     Systems 4kWp to 10kWp - 36.1p/kWh

-     Systems 10kWp to 100kWp - 31.4p/kWh

-     Systems 100kWp to 5MWp - 29.3p/kWh

These tariffs will increase year on year with inflation and will be payable for a period of 25 years. Payback periods for typical domestic systems would be in the region of 12 years (an 8% return on the investment). For larger scale systems payback periods could be less.

Please contact Apollo Renewables if you have any questions or see the news section of our website for the Government’s press release regarding the Feed-In Tariff.

The Community Sustainable Energy Programme

The Lottery Funded programme offers grants for community projects for applicants such as parish councils, schools, colleges, charities and faith based groups. Funding is available for 50% of the installed cost of solar PV systems, and 50% of the installed cost of wind power system.

The deadlines for the next two funding rounds are:

-       Round 10, Friday 30th July 2010

-       Round 11, Friday 29th October 2010

For additional information please see the Community Sustainable Energy Programme (CSEP) website.
